Our Membership Covenant

God established a special covenant relationship, first with His people, Israel; and then a new covenant with His people, the church. Therefore, as a member of God’s covenant family known as Harvest View Church, I will value and commit myself to Christ-like love that connects me to God and to others in my life, and helps me to develop those relationships through the presence, guidance, love and power of God’s Holy Spirit. I will love others and my community as Christ loves me, honor and submit to Biblical leadership and to one another above myself, be kind and compassionate to others, encourage and build up others, comfort others, and eagerly offer hospitality to others.

I will promote strong family relationships by teaching solid personal values and building positive relational character in the home. I will teach our children to love God with all their heart, soul, mind and strength. I will love my spouse in a Christ-like manner and promote mutual submission.

I will meet together regularly, both for celebrative worship and dynamic biblical teaching and preaching, and in life-groups to fellowship and study God’s Word. Through worship and bible study I will promote a spirit of unity based on our common bond in Christ, and through the absolute truth of His word, be united in mind and convictions. I will suffer when one suffers and rejoice when another is honored, and consider others more important than myself. I will support the testimony of the church by attending faithfully, living a godly life and by giving regularly.

I will participate in the church ministry by using my God-given knowledge to teach others, willingly develop and use my spiritual gifts, talents, abilities and expertise to bless others and the Kingdom, use the Word of God to teach and admonish others, and nurture myself and others toward spiritual transformation measured by the life and ministry of Jesus.

I will pray continually for others, prayerfully confess my sins, prayerfully warn those who are idle, encourage the discouraged, help the weak, be patient with others, forgive others as the Lord forgave us, and gently restore those who sin.

I will encourage a loving fellowship by not talking negatively about others, not passing judgment on others, not putting any stumbling block in another’s way, not being morally impure, not using obscenities, not being greedy, but being filled with the Spirit.

I will live to bring glory to God.
